Over the weekend Bren and Mike picked up the new EASE Access Dinghy covers. They are fantastic! Thanks to the friends and family of the late Donald L. Smith, for the memorial contributions sent to BMC. Don was an avid sailor and a boat builder, so his daughter thought that it would be fitting that the funds be used for our adaptive sailing program, EASE. Due to this kind gesture, we were able to purchase new tarps for our Access Sailing Dinghies, which BMC use to teach sailing to children with developmental and physical disabilities.
GE’s Employee Community Service Fund has generously donated $5,000 to BMC for the purchase of Smart Board technology for BAEP, Project SAIL, and other BMC programming. BMC also had a group from GE Transportation do groundskeeping and assist in installing a Peace Pole, with the message “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in fours languages: English, Spanish, Nepali, and Hawaiian. These languages represent the diverse cultures that learn, teach, and work at our waterfront campus. BMC would like to thank GE’s Employee Community Service Fund, GE Transportation, and other GE associates who support BMC’s mission to provide engaging, hands-on programming for the Erie community.
Thank You! This has been an unprecedented week at the Bayfront Maritime Center. The 2nd-Annual Small Boat Festival went off without a hitch, both the Cardboard Boat Regatta and the Presque Isle Bay Messabout. Thousands came out and showed their support! As if this wasn’t enough, on Tuesday the 13th, generous benefactors donated $4,040 to BMC on Erie Gives Day 2013, which more than doubles last year’s total. The Bayfront Maritime Center would like to thank everyone who has aided BMC in continuing its mission to deliver engaging, hands-on programming that produces extraordinary students. With your support, the Bayfront Maritime Center continues to flourish and shine. Thanks again for being
