We are so pleased to have Allegheny College Bonner student, Xzavier Scott, working with us this summer. Xzavier is from New York City and will be beginning his junior year in the fall. Last year, he worked as a community coordinator and as a computer literacy tutor in Meadville. He’s excited to have his first office job, especially one with such a beautiful view!
Dennis Williams, BAEP principle at BMC was in the boat shop today, continuing his great work with at risk youth, and helping BMC further serve the Erie Community. The Bayfront Alternative Education Program at Bayfront Maritime Center in Erie, PA, is for 8th -12th grade students who are struggling in the traditional classroom setting. Hands-on, project based curriculum creates a culture of experiential learning which engages students and challenges them to develop teamwork and problem solving skills. The Bayfront Maritime Center is proud to present the newest member of BMC team: Mrs. Jodi Carpenter! Jodi joins us from Portland, Maine where she has been working as a boat building instructor at the Compass Project. She has four years experience working with inner city and at-risk youth, running the shop and directing the boat building program. She helped to teach this Traditional and Modern Oar Making Class with Clint Chase at the WoodenBoat School last week. Now Jodi is Maritime Educator/ Boatbuilding at BMC!
