Tall Ships Festival 2016

It’s been an exciting week on the bayfront! Eight beautiful tall ships descended upon Erie for the Tall Ships Festival. Thanks to the Flagship Niagara League, our Bayfront Alternative Education students were able to tour several of the ships. Our rich maritime heritage inspires us all!

We received a check today for nearly $5,000 from the 46 donors who so graciously took the time to donate on August 9, 2016. Thank you!!

BMC students built two St. Ayles Skiffs as part of their academic curriculum. This is the second skiff they built and named Blue Pike.

BMC’s after school program, Project SAIL, is accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Teens, ages 15-18, who live in Erie County, are eligible to apply. Fall classes begin on September 12, 2016 and run through November 1, 2016.

Thanks to a grant from Erie Arts & Culture, local artist, Ron Bayuzick, is BMC’s Artist-in-Residence for the 2015-2016 School Year.

Student’s learned the art of paper mache to create individual masks and other sculptural pieces. Great job, everyone!

Students created their own African inspired masks and paper mache heads.
