THANK YOU to the brothers of Alpha Phi Delta and Dr. Duane Prokop, who assisted BMC on Gannon GIVE Day 2013 by cleaning and organizing our boat shop. BMC appreciates the support Gannon University gives BMC and the Erie community.
Thank You! This has been an unprecedented week at the Bayfront Maritime Center. The 2nd-Annual Small Boat Festival went off without a hitch, both the Cardboard Boat Regatta and the Presque Isle Bay Messabout. Thousands came out and showed their support! As if this wasn’t enough, on Tuesday the 13th, generous benefactors donated $4,040 to BMC on Erie Gives Day 2013, which more than doubles last year’s total. The Bayfront Maritime Center would like to thank everyone who has aided BMC in continuing its mission to deliver engaging, hands-on programming that produces extraordinary students. With your support, the Bayfront Maritime Center continues to flourish and shine. Thanks again for being

Come out to the Perry 200 Parade on May 25th! BMC’s float will be the St. Ayles Skiff, built by Erie High School students in the Bayfront Alternative Education Program and BMC’s after-school program, Project SAIL. Over 60 teenagers have worked to build the rowing skiff since beginning in mid-September. It is 22’ long, 5’8” wide, and will be powered by four people rowing with a coxswain steering. There are 20 high schools in the United States currently building or rowing St. Ayles Skiffs. This skiff is the beginning of Erie’s first Community Rowing Program.
BMC would like to thank Cathedral Preparatory School for their AMAZING volunteer work yesterday! Students and teachers helped install our new outdoor classroom and prepared boats for sailing season.

It is time to start planning your cardboard boat! Use your imagination to construct a boat made entirely from cardboard, tape, paint and glue, and then paddle it around a 200 yard course in the East Canal Basin on Erie’s Bayfront and see if you can win a prize for Most Creative, Fastest Time, Crowd Favorite… or at least Most Dramatic Sinking! There are three age divisions: Adult, Teen (12-18 years old) and Kid’s Crew (under 12 years old.) We have several youth groups who would like to participate but are looking for sponsors. Your donation of $50 will allow these kids to
