Project COMPASS After-School Program

Project COMPASS: Building Skills, Confidence, and Futures

Project COMPASS is an engaging after-school program that helps teens discover their potential through hands-on learning, career exploration, and maritime adventure. Designed to prepare young people for future success, the program combines workforce readiness training with exciting real-world experiences both on the water and in the workshop.

Participants develop valuable job and life skills, including resume writing, completing applications, interviewing techniques, teamwork, communication, and professional responsibility. Through boatbuilding projects, sailing, rowing, paddling, and STEM-based activities, students see firsthand how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics apply to the world around them.

Whether constructing boats in our workshop or navigating aboard our floating classrooms, students build confidence, problem-solving abilities, leadership skills, and a strong sense of accomplishment. Every activity is designed to encourage curiosity, perseverance, collaboration, and personal growth.

Project COMPASS provides a positive, supportive environment where young people can connect with mentors, develop practical skills, explore career pathways, and experience the excitement of learning through adventure. Participants leave with stronger connections to their community, increased confidence in their abilities, and a clearer vision for their future.

Programming is currently being planned for the upcoming fall season. Families, students, schools, and community partners interested in learning more about Project COMPASS are encouraged to contact Executive Director Robin Mascharka at execdir@bayfrontcenter.org for information and updates.
