Every ship needs a great crew.

Every ship needs a great crew, and the Bayfront Maritime Center is a success because of its great volunteers.

BMC Needs Volunteers for

Boat Shop

There is a place for everyone at the Bayfront Maritime Center. Whether you’re an experienced boatbuilder, a skilled craftsperson, or simply someone eager to learn and give back, we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and abilities. Volunteers work alongside our talented maritime educators, helping inspire the next generation while developing new skills, building friendships, and becoming part of a vibrant waterfront community.

Landscaping

Enjoy working outdoors, gardening, and doing yard-work? BMC is located directly on Lake Erie’s gorgeous Bayfront and keeping our waterfront campus shipshape is always a priority.

Adaptive Sailing

The Erie Adaptive Sailing (EASE) program is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania and is entirely volunteer-run. Our program meets for 6 consecutive Thursdays beginning in late June and running until the 2nd week in August.

Office Work

Do you whiz through office tasks, and enjoy being involved with the hustle-and-bustle of managing a non-profit? Current or retired business or grant-writing professionals would be able to assist BMC in pursuing and maintaining funding for BMC’s programming.

Special Events

Our annual fundraisers, Ales for Sails and the Cardboard Boat Regatta, are opportunities for BMC to give back to the community, and are always lively occasions. Special event volunteers do not need clearances to volunteer at events.

Thank You, Volunteers!
