Come out to the Perry 200 Parade on May 25th! BMC’s float will be the St. Ayles Skiff, built by Erie High School students in the Bayfront Alternative Education Program and BMC’s after-school program, Project SAIL.
Over 60 teenagers have worked to build the rowing skiff since beginning in mid-September. It is 22’ long, 5’8” wide, and will be powered by four people rowing with a coxswain steering. There are 20 high schools in the United States currently building or rowing St. Ayles Skiffs.
This skiff is the beginning of Erie’s first Community Rowing Program.
