Maritime education is starting to catch the eye of folks in Washington. The St. Lawrence Seaway Administrator Betty Sutton, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and MARAD Executive Director Szabat addressed the Third Annual K-12 Maritime Education Symposium, as well as a great group of panelists from academia, government and industry.
This year, we had all three existing Great Lakes maritime high schools participating, The Maritime Academy of Toledo, the Bayfront Maritime Center of Erie, and the Western New York Maritime School of Buffalo.
We are excited to have attendees from Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland who are interested in opening a maritime high schools in their communities.
The Maritime Academy of Toledo just became the first maritime high school in the nation with a full mission bridge simulator.
